The boat sales and marina portion of the Fox Chapel Yacht Club at 1366 Old Freeport Road in Pittsburgh (mm 9 on the Allegheny) was recently purchased by Fox Chapel Sea Ray and Marina (see map.) It's new owner is now Mr. Carl Pecoraro.
A long-time boater, Mr. Pecoraro also owns Crown Buick and GMC Trucks, Crown Leasing, and Crown Racing Enterprises, which has sponsored the winning Formula One boat in the Three Rivers Regatta in 1992, 1995 and 1996.
In an exclusive interview, Mr. Pecoraro told Anchors Aweigh that Fox Chapel Sea Ray and Marina will handle Sea Ray sales of up to 33 feet, and will take special orders for Sea Ray models of up to 63 feet. The new company will also own and operate the 285-slip marina, the largest marina in the Tri-State area, including Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.
"We're a full service marina," said Mr. Pecoraro, who pointed out that the Fox Chapel Sea Ray and Marina will also feature certified Sea Ray and MerCruiser service, a 45,000 lb crane offering in and out service, boat brokerage sales, a hydraulic trailer for boats up to 35 feet, full gelcoat and fiberglass service, interior refurbishment, boat detailing, and a marine surveyor.
In addition, the marina will offer over-night dockage, accommodations for visiting boaters, including electricity, water, telephone, cable TV and use of the showers, restrooms, and swimming pool for $25 per night, plus access to the bar and restaurant. Limo service by Fox Chapel Sea Ray Marina is also available
Jim Johns is general manager of the new company, and Roger Peterson is the service manager.
The Fox Chapel Yacht Club will continue to be operated as a separate facility, under the hospitality/restaurant management team of SportsRock Entertainment.
